Different types of Copper product description

Generally, copper is available in different types and each is suitable doe different applications. The properties of each type of copper base on the purity of the copper and what alloys or elements in included in them. The following are the different types of copper

Copper plates and sheets:  Sheets of copper contains about 2mm or less as for copper plates are thicker up to 12mm. Basically  the plates available in different copper grades. For the sheets can be formed in different components.

Copper Tiny Particles or nanoparticles: These are tiny particles of copper that are found anywhere from 1-100 in size. These particles are used different than the bulk materials. These nanoparticles have a high catalytic activity for industrial chemical reactions. In addition these small particles have proven given excellent to antimicrobial effects

Copper wire: The wires are the most conductor for various electrical applications. In addition copper wires take advantage of the metal’s excellent electrical conductivity, its also used for domestic use like wiring a home for outlet and lights.

Copper Mill berries: Its considered to have high purity copper materials that are largely and rampantly used in various industries including electrical, electronics and in construction. Also known for its perfect conductivity

Electrolytic coppers: As to improve impurities, the copper electrolytic are put in a solution and refined by electrolysis. Since copper has got a high conductivity in electrical conductivity, its applied in things like bus bars and windings

Free Machining coppers.: These ones have got minor amounts like 1% of other alloying elements added to it in order to improve the machinability of copper. The free machining copper can then be more easily machined into items such as welding nozzles.

Copper has got a number of reasonable benefits which are listed below

Its corrosion resistant, basically in water and also sea water applications hence leading to the wide spread usage in plumbing

Its ductile and can be bent easily. It is easy to work with in plumbing systems as well as in cabling

Durability: Copper is a long lasting material, resistant to corrosion and wear, this makes it an ideal for industrial applications

Electrical benefits: Copper is an excellent conductor of electricity which makes it important for electrical wiring. In addition, copper’s high conductivity surely enables efficient transmission of electrical energy over long distances

For Thermal benefits: Were by, copper is a good heat conductor which makes it suitable for heat exchangers, radiators and other thermal applications

In Health Benefits: Since copper has got the antimicrobial properties, it is considered effective against bacteria, viruses and fungi

Economic Benefits: Many copper industries have employed a number of job seekers, providing employment opportunities in the mining, manufacturing and even other sectors hence contributing to the countries economy.

Process of Making Copper

The process of copper involves a number of stages. From mining and extraction to refining  and manufacturing. Following the steps of making copper.

Mining: It involves ore, extraction, crushing and grinding were by copper ore is extracted from open pit or underground mines which then is crushed and grinded into a fine powder.

Concertation: Its when powdered ore is  mixed with  water and surfactant and then passed through floatation which separates copper minerals from others which results into pure copper.

Smelting: The concentrated copper is then smelted to produce a molten copper matte which is a mixture of copper, iron and sulfur

Converting: The molten copper is further refined in converting furnace were air is blown through to remove impurities which results into blister copper of about 99% purity.

Refining: Then the blister copper is further refined through electrolysis where copper is dissolved and then changed into cathodes which results into 99.9% purity

Manufacturing: After the refined copper is then manufactured into different products like wire, cables, sheets, strips, tubes, pipes, mill berries and electrical components which are supplied and traded from Africa
